Bamboo, stainless steel or silicone, which reusable straw fits your routine best
There is a tendency to look for the “most eco friendly” option when choosing reusable straws. And while that matters, it is not always the most helpful starting point. Because the most sustainable option is usually the one you actually keep using.
The three most common options
Most reusable straws fall into three main categories. Each one has its own feel, and its own way of fitting into daily life.

Bamboo straws
Bamboo straws have a natural look and feel, which many people are drawn to.
They are lightweight and biodegradable, but they do need a bit more care. They should be dried properly and replaced over time. I talk alot to people about bamboo straws and the most common concern is they begin to smell inside after a while. They suit people who are comfortable with a slightly more hands on approach and can not go in the dishewasher or be used with hot drinks.
Stainless steel straws
These are durable and long lasting. They are easy to clean and often dishwasher safe, which makes them practical.
Some people find them a little firm, especially for children or colder drinks. One concern i have hear about these is that people have burnt their lips on them before when trying to use them with hot drinks.
Silicone straws
Silicone sits somewhere in between. Our straws are soft, flexible, and generally very easy to clean. They tends to work well in the dishwasher and is more forgiving in everyday use.
