Fun activities using silicone straws

Did you know, our silicone straws aren’t just for putting in your drinks! Summer is coming and its time to have some fun!!!
We’ve put together a few different activities you can do with your little ones, to get the most out of your silicone straws.
Blow Painting
You will need - card, paint and some reusable silicone straws
Splotch a few different colours of paint on to some card, and blow through your straw to spread the paint into different patterns. You can make fireworks in November, use oranges and yellows in Autumn, yellows and blues to make the seaside, greens and blues for an under the sea theme, or greys and blues to make a rainy day!
Straw Football
You will need - a blob of play doh, a small ball or bead and silicone straws
Put two blobs of play doh (or similar!) at one end of a table to make a goal, and two blobs at the other end. Find a small ball or a big bead to use as a football and blow through your straw to try to get the ball in the goal. This is a great way to keep two kids entertained, while you’re getting some jobs done, or a game you can play with your little one.
Transferring Beads
This game can be varied, depending on the age of your kids!
For little ones, set out some pom poms and beads in a bowl, and put another bowl or egg box nearby. Get your child to suck the straw so that a bead attaches to it, and then move it into the bowl or egg box. To turn this into a learning activity, ask them to take out beads of a certain colour, or a certain amount. Use different sizes of beads and pom poms to make the game easier or harder.
For bigger kids, put two empty bowls at one side of the room and a bowl of beads at the other, and get them to race between the two, sucking the beads through the straws, and moving them to the empty bowl, as they go. The person with the most number of beads in their bowl after two minutes, or the first person to have five beads in their bowl, is the winner!
Straw Maze
You will need - a cardboard box, some coloured card, blu-tac and reusable straws
Cut a piece of paper to fit on the base inside a small box. Stick straws onto the piece of paper, to make a maze. You can make the maze as easy or as hard as you like, depending on the age of your child. Cut two holes into the sides or bottom of the box where the ball will enter and exit the maze and stick the paper to the inside of the box. Put the ball through one of the holes and tilt the box to move it around the maze to the other hole.
